Spring into Horror #Readathon - Mid-event Checkin #SpringHorror

I can't believe it has been a week already. My reading has been less than stellar (If you're in our Facebook group, you'll know why). I intend to rock it this week and finish strong with Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon.

How's it going? I hope everyone is getting lots of reading done and enjoying the new longer format. I know I am because I know I have another week to dig in and reach my goals. I apologize for not visiting blog posts yet, but I will stop by and check out how things are going. Of course, many are updating in the FB group so I have been keeping up there.

Share with us in the comments how you're doing, or leave a link in the comments...or continue updating on Twitter (#WintersRespite) and/or in our Facebook group.

Be sure to check out the prize page.

Wishing you all successful and happy reading (with some scary thrown in) for the remainder of the readathon!

Books by Brick Marlin

(WINNERS - EVA, STEVEN, MALLORY, ...., ,,,, )
Shadow Out of the Sky ( 2 4 5 eBooks {ePub or mobi - International})

An evil entity invades and terrorizes a small town by possessing children, forcing their hands to kill and slaughter each and every adult, while a small group fight to survive in this apocalyptic tale. The entity's plan is to shove the human race into extinction so a new world can Shift forward, a new world designed by four demons called The Reckoning that flying inside their own transparent spheres.

(WINNERS - STEVEN, MALLORY, CAROL, JANE, ..... )
Ozarium ( 1  2 3 4 5 eBooks {ePub or mobi - International})

The Shift of the world transitioned without delusion. The Reckoning has molded a brand new world, beginning with a colony ran by a large corporation called Slader Corp which invents a bizarre lottery, randomly choosing a winner, awarding him or her with infamous amounts of BodyKredd to spend nearly however they wish; though, in turn, surrendering their bodies to the demi agents when they come calling.
But what happens when a child wins the lottery?

Brick has a new small tale which takes place between "Ozarium" and the new book he's been working on, kind of an accompaniment.

You can read it here:

At an early age Brick Marlin was exposed to horror and science fiction. He soon became an avid reader and enjoyed stories written by Edgar Allen Poe and W. W. Jacobs. His other favorite tales were written by Stephen King, Clive Barker, Ray Bradbury, J. B. Stamper—which he still to this day recollects her terrifying tale “The Furry Collar”—Kurt Vonnegut, Dean Koontz, Charles Dickens, Harper Lee, H.G. Wells, etc. Not long after did he decide to write horror, sci-fi and dark fantasy he began scaring readers such as his parents, his friends, a handful of neighbors, and even leaving a few school teachers scratching their heads wondering if the boy should be committed or not. His very first book was written when he was 9—a mere 100 words, if that, written on index cards and bound together with yarn—which was a follow-up to the movie Rikki Tikki Tavi. From then on short story ideas continued to visit. A book idea or two sometimes stopped by for a sit. And gathering the craft of world building and characterization by posing as a Dungeon Master while playing hours and hours of the game Dungeons and Dragons fed his need. When 2007 arrived he decided to pursue writing professionally and was able to have The Darkened Image published. Brick Marlin is a member of the Horror Writers Association and has published 11 novels, over 25 short stories, including a few which has shown up in anthologies such as Dystopian Express released by Hydra Publications.

Nowadays Brick Marlin loves to cast himself as an introvert when writing, staving off the outside world by hiding out in his office. The only thing which sometimes break the invisible force field is the dreaded literary gremlin and its miserable clan of misfits. If you see one, you know there’s more around. Much like that cockroach you notice when you open the kitchen draw of utensils and find out that cockroach has just birthed cockroach babies.

And the best thing to do in those circumstances are to feed the literary creatures Extra Sour Apple-Flavored Fizzle, Pop & Explode Candies Extreme Fizz Series One.

Unless of course you have cockroaches. Then you’ll need an exterminator.

Spring into Horror #Readathon - Let's go! #SpringHorror

Here we go! Two weeks of scary (or kind of scary) reading. 😱 I don't know about you, but I'm loving the two week format, AND I'm looking forward to Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon going on at the very end!

Just a reminder...the one main "rule" of Spring Into Horror is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the week...anything goes! Read more horror, or go in for less heart jolting fare.

I have a few prizes lined up donated from some generous authors, and me, of course. 😀

If you have any questions about how things work, check out the guidelines tab above or the sign up post, or you can always leave me a comment (or send me a message via the contact form). The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/The True Book Addict (goal post).

I will post a mid-event check in post on Sunday. Please note, I changed our hashtag for social media. It is now just #SpringHorror If you're on Facebook, be sure to stop by our group.

I think we're all set. Let's dig in and have a great time reading!

A #WintersRespite #Readathon - It's a wrap!

Another readathon has come to an end. I hope everyone enjoyed our new two week format. I know I did! I also hope everyone was able to meet their goals, or at least come close.

I'd like to thank you all for joining me. Be sure to add your wrap-up link below (I want to stop by and see how you did with your reading, as I slacked off with the mid-week checkins...sorry!) and please double check that you were signed up HERE so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Wednesday, October 12 at 11:59pm CDT to add your wrap-up link. I will draw giveaway winners as soon as I can. Please be sure to note the system of drawing winners in the giveaway details on the prize page and fill out the Google form at the bottom). And now for a big round of applause for the authors who so generously donated our prizes. I'd also like to thank Margaret at Bemused Bookworm for hosting a giveaway at her blog this week. 😇

Up next, we have the Spring into Horror Readathon which will be April 17 - 30. If you have never joined us for this readathon, don't let the word horror scare you away. I only require that one book you read be horror and I don't insist on actual horror (if you're faint-hearted). It can be a thriller, scary mystery, a Gothic novel, paranormal. If you do love the scary, then feel free to read horror for the entire two weeks.

Good luck in the giveaway to all!!! And thanks again for joining me!
